How to get a job
TLDR;
- meet 75% of the requirements
- apply within 24h
- write a resume that appeals within 20 seconds
The person who gets hired is the person who requires the least amount of training.
How hiring works
Actors:
- Company: has a product or service they sell. They need a new member to improve their process so they can make more revenue.
- Hiring manager: gets money to hire for a new position. They decide who gets the job. Has normally no experience in recruiting, that is why they hire a recruiter.
- Recruiter: handles hundreds of positions simultaneously. They make a pre-selection of the candidates, before they are forwarded to the hiring manager
- You
You need to make sure you have the skills that improve the company’s process and appeal to the HM and recruiter. The person who gets hired is the person who requires the least amount of training. The good news is, in the end, it is still humans who make the decision. As long as you meet 75% of the requirements, you are fine. The rest is about you being you. Be creative. Be yourself. Only this way you will find the job that is fulfilling.
The hiring process may vary depending on the country. And also note that the common practices may change over time. AI will definetly have an impact on how applying for a job will look like in the future. But for now we can make use of LLMs to write better CVs.
